| Hargrove gas log sets are
reliable and convenient systems that provide a warm, enjoyable
fire with the turn of a knob or the flick of a switch. Our
burner systems, grates, and other parts work together with our logs,
to create this fire with exceptional beauty and extraordinary realism. The
Ember Burner, H Burner and System Four are designed to be used interchangeably
with the Pedestal Grate on any of our standard vented log
sets. |

 |
The Hargrove Ember Burner is
the simple and reliable heart of the vented gas log set. Designed
to provide years of trouble-free service, it
consists of two main components, the burner tube and pan, and uses
no moving parts. Hargrove Ember Burner pans are constructed
of heavy, 16 gauge steel, for extra strength and longevity. The
burner tube distributes gas evenly across the burner pan and into the
burner
media. As pressure forces
the gas through the media, it is dispersed in a random and ever-changing
pattern throughout the Ember Burner. This gives the
flames movement as they waft through the Pedestal Grate and
wrap around the logs, convincingly simulating the way real wood burns
in a fireplace. |
| |
| The exciting new
H Burner expands upon the Ember Burner concept by adding a full-length
secondary burner tube to the front area of the burner pan. This advancement
provides
additional flame in front of the logs, which helps radiate more heat
into your home, while enhancing the look of the log set. The positioning
of the secondary burner tube also creates an improved ember bed, particularly
in liquid propane applications. Hargrove's H Burner retains the simplicity,
reliability and heavy-duty construction of the original Ember Burner,
but gives you more flame where you want it. |

Hargrove's innovative
System Four vented burner was created specifically to provide outstanding
performance in liquid propane applications, and also offers many advantages
for natural gas. Controlled
porting distributes more flame to areas of the set that need it and
less to
areas that do not, producing greater efficiency than standard designs. Optimal
fuel to air ratios also increase efficiency and help create a clean
burning system that provides natural flame patterns and a full glowing
ember bed, with much less carbon production than previous liquid propane
systems, which helps maintain the beauty of your Hargrove log set. The
stainless and carbon steel burner features hidden controls for added
realism, and does not require the use of burner media, which also promotes
cleaner combustion, and simplifies installation. |
| |
| The Pedestal
Grate further enhances the log set by creating the appearance of a
taller, more massive log stack without adding additional logs (and
weight) in areas where they are not beneficial. This design also
creates more open space within the set, promoting optimum airflow around
the logs, for better
flame height and a more natural flame pattern. Hargrove
Pedestal Grates are one-piece units, made from hefty 5/8" steel
stock for a solid, sturdy look that will withstand the punishing heat
of
your fireplace for years
to come. |

 |
Hargrove's exclusive
dark ember material is placed over the burner media to create
a warm, glowing ember bed under the logs, just as you would see in
a real wood fire. However, unlike real wood embers, the natural properties
of this organic mineral fiber allow it to glow season after season
without burning away or breaking down. |
| |
Hargrove vented
gas log sets may also use an optional ember bed enhancement
material called vermiculite, which can be added to the ember bed to
simulate
ashes,
for even
more realism.
Dark volcanic cinder is also supplied with all log sets, to cover
the visible floor of the fireplace, for a finished look that beautifully
frames the log set. |

Safety pilot valves
use a pilot assembly to provide flame to ignite the log set and
control gas flow to the set. A safety pilot assembly (for vented
log sets) consists of a pilot burner, which provides flame to the
set and sends flame across a thermocouple (or thermopile on millivolt
valve systems), which senses the temperature rise caused by the
flame, and generates a small electrical current that is transmitted
to an electromagnet inside the Safety Pilot Control, or other valve
attached to the log set. If the pilot flame goes out, the electrical
signal stops, and the electromagnet shuts down gas flow through
the valve, and
thus to the log set. Once the pilot has been relit, the thermocouple
will again send its signal, and the valve will operate. |
| |
| Hargrove vent-free
gas log sets use different burner systems than vented gas log sets,
because vent-free sets require lower BTU output and more complete
combustion than their vented counterparts. These requirements
are met by using burner systems that control the set's flame pattern
by placing flame
in specific
positions around the set, so that
flames
are not engulfing the logs, as would normally be the case in
a vented log set. Vent-free log sets also require their
logs be placed in specific locations around the burner, whereas
vented gas logs generally do not have such a requirement. |
 |
| |
 |
Hargrove vent-free
gas log sets employ a safety pilot system called an Oxygen Depletion
Sensor pilot which, in addition to providing the same safety functions
as a vented safety pilot, will automatically shut down the log set
should the oxygen level in the room become too low. Hargrove vent-free sets also feature a
spark igniter, which conveniently lights the set without matches or
other lighters. |
